Rosalía | Should I look at the camera or not? Or should I look at you? |
Paolo | Wherever you want. How do you pronounce Juliet in Spanish? |
Rosalía | Julieta. |
Paolo | I would like to ask you to read some lines of the tragedy in Spanish. |
Paolo | What is love for you? |
Rosalía | This question is so hard, I still don’t think I know. I think I was near to experiencing something that can be called love, but I don’t know if I know what love is yet, because I think that you can fall in love but that doesn’t mean that you really love. I fell in love for the first time when I was 13. I wasn’t expecting it, it just happened. It felt just like heaven. |
Paolo | Almost the same age as Juliet when she felt in love with Romeo. |
Rosalía | For me, when I think about love I think about life, and I think that the more you love the more you learn and understand. Saint Augustine used to say something like “Conocemos en la medida en que amamos.” We know as much as we love. I think that I still have to live more to understand love. |
Paolo | Even if you say you don’t know about love, your open heart is in every one of your songs. We can feel that listening to your music. |
Rosalía | I try. I think that with every record I do, I’m trying to get closer, to do it with more love and to be more honest—to be more open. I think that is the journey I choose, and why I choose to be a musician. |
Paolo | There is a line in Romeo and Juliet where Juliet says: My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep. The more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite. |
Rosalía | That is beautiful. I like that. |
